Frequently asked questions after Embryo Transfers

Listed below are some of the most frequent questions regarding post embryo transfer activities.

Can we have sex today?2017-10-07T12:04:46+00:00

Of course you are able to have sex! There is no evidence that sex interferes with implantation.

Can I have a bath after embryo transfer?2017-04-24T15:45:26+00:00

Absolutely. Having a warm bath after the embryo transfer will not affect the implementation, but rather relax your body after a stressful procedure. Enjoy it!

Can I drink alcohol or caffeine?2017-04-24T15:46:50+00:00

In order to keep your body and your future baby healthy, we suggest that you minimize your alcohol and caffeine intake during the treatment. We also recommend sure to avoid smoking at all times.

Can I play sports after embryo transfer?2017-04-24T15:48:49+00:00

Good news, following a thaw cycle you are able to continue with your normal sporting activities. If you had a recent egg collection, it is very possible that your ovaries may be tender and swollen. Thus, we recommend that you take it easy on your body and take on gentle exercise.

What do I do if I start bleeding?2017-10-07T12:05:14+00:00

If you start bleeding you should contact our nurse team immediately. Bleeding at this stage should not be taken lightly!

Can I take any medications?2017-10-07T12:05:46+00:00

Unless instructed by your healthcare professional, medication should only be taken if indicated. If you’re about to commence a new set of medication(s) it is important that you let our Fertility Specialists know.

Worried about needing to take antibiotics? You can request a clear preference for an antibiotic that won’t affect your pregnancy.

Should I continue medication as usual?2017-04-24T15:53:52+00:00

Unless your Fertility Specialist has instructed you to stop taking your Progesterone medication, it is important that you continue taking it.
